This Practice Note provides a short introduction to the benefits of integrating gender issues into SSR, as well as practical information on doing so.

There is strong recognition that security sector reform (SSR) should meet the different security needs of men, women, boys and girls. The integration of gender issues is also key to the effectiveness and accountability of the security sector, and to local ownership and legitimacy of SSR processes. This Practice Note provides a short introduction to the benefits of integrating gender issues into SSR, as well as practical information on doing so.
