Economic activities
Economic security is affected by a number of different factors. The OSCE’s goal is to support sustainable economic growth and stability in its region. This is achieved through fostering international co-operation on a variety of economic issues.
Specific activities include:
Migration
Many OSCE states are experiencing an upward trend of international migration, notably for economic reasons. The Organization promotes the development of comprehensive and effective labour migration policies and provides training for public officials and civil society. It pays particular attention to gender aspects of labour migration.
Transport
The OSCE focuses both on transport security and the specific transit challenges of landlocked developing countries. It helps its participating States develop more efficient border, transport and customs policies, and stimulates the exchange of best practices and know-how.
Economic empowerment of women
Women’s contribution is essential to a country’s sustainable economic growth. The OSCE promotes equal opportunities by offering training and networking opportunities for woman entrepreneurs.
Anti-corruption
The OSCE develops knowledge materials and organizes training on international anti-corruption commitments and good practices, including prevention of corruption, asset declaration regimes and asset recovery, codes of conduct for civil servants and anti-corruption institutional structures. It pays attention to both centralised and local levels of government.
Countering money laundering and terrorism financing
The OSCE supports participating States in implementing international standards in anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism. Key activities include raising awareness of emerging money laundering and terrorism financing techniques, national risk assessments and building capacity for successful cross-border co-operation.
