Gender and the media

The portrayal of men and women in the media – and the role of women in media organizations – often reflects common stereotypes. The OSCE supports media professionals to increase their understanding of gender equality, improve gender-sensitivity in reporting and build the professional capacities of women journalists, aiming to increase their participation, bolster their expertise and improve their career prospects. The Organization also works to safeguard freedom of expression while combating gender-based discrimination in the media.
