Degradacija životne sredine, trka za prirodnim resursima i klimatske promene mogu da ugroze političku stabilnost. Sa druge strane, dobro upravljanje životnom sredinom i saradnja pomažu da se izgradi poverenje. U tome pomažu Arhus centri tako što uključuju građane, vlade i privatni sektor u dijalog o izazovima koji se odnose na životnu sredinu.
